Today, we represent a fleet of over 300 yachts for VAT and customs purposes, with a combined portfolio value exceeding €2 billion. ALEX CHUMILLAS AMAT
As a trusted advisor in yacht and aircraft taxation and customs, Alex brings extensive experience working with top-tier international brokers, yacht management firms, legal practices, aircraft operators, and foreign investors — many of whom continue to rely on his expertise today.
Alex serves on the Board of Directors of the Spanish Business Aviation Association (SPBAA), a member of the European Business Aviation Association (EBAA), and is a founding member of the Barcelona Nautical Cluster. He is actively involved in the legal committees of EBAA, SPBAA, and the Barcelona and Balearic Nautical Clusters, where he plays an active role in shaping Spain’s evolving tax framework for the maritime and aviation sectors.
He contributed to the update of the VAT chapter in the third edition of the comprehensive treatise The Law of Yachts & Yachting and to the Spanish tax chapter of the EBAA Aviation Law Guide.
Dedicated to collaboration and innovation, Alex founded The Superyacht and Aviation Think Tank, a professional network of over 140 VAT and customs specialists across Europe, fostering discussion and knowledge-sharing within the industry. He is also a regular speaker at international superyacht and business aviation conferences.
